This will work over time to dry out your car s cabin and reduce the chance of funky odors taking root. Vacuum your carpet to pick up any of the big particles of dirt or loose fibers. Allow the baking soda to remain on the carpet overnight. Mixing baking soda with dirt won t be very effective.

The baking soda on your carpet will get converted to co2 and sodium acetate which is solid in nature.
